APPLICATION
Magic Puff is a sculptural glaze that puffs up magically in the kiln. Witchcraft! Shake well. Fire to cone 5/6. The more Magic Puff that is applied, the larger the puffs will become. Keep abundant space between ceramics in the kiln to allow space for the puff to expand. Magic Puff is very fragile and should only be used for sculpture. It is not food safe due to its fragility and texture. Firing Magic Puff multiple times increases strength and it becomes less brittle.

How to Apply

  1. Shake jar well
  2. Apply 1-3 thin layers of Magic Puff
  3. Place in kiln with plenty of space between other ceramics because it will expand significantly.
  4. Fire to cone 5 or 6

ProTip: Firing Magic Puff multiple times increases strength and it becomes less brittle!

Application Thickness

Apply 1-3 layers of glaze.

1 layer is enough to get the puffy texture. The more glaze that is applied, the larger and more dramatic the puff will be. 3 thick layers would expand about 2 inches.

Keep in mind how thick you applied the glaze when you load the kiln. Be sure to keep plenty of space between other ceramics.

Temperature: 5/6

This glaze was designed for cone 5/6 temperatures. It will not melt at lower temperatures and it has not been tested by Wizard at higher temperatures (yet!)

Food Safe?

Absolutely NOT!

Magic Puff is very fragile and should only be used for sculpture. It is not food safe due to its fragility and texture.
