What is included in my glaze package when I use the code DRYPOWDERGLAZE?

Your package will contain jars filled with dry powder glaze. To use it, you’ll need to add water and shake the jar to hydrate the glaze. These jars contain the same amount of glaze product as the hydrated versions.

How do I hydrate the dry glaze powder?

Follow these simple steps to hydrate your glaze:

  1. Add Water:
Open the jar and add about 1.5 cups of cool water (not hot) or fill the jar to the fill line. The fill line is located where the jar’s neck begins, right at the bottom of the lid screw lines.
  2. Shake Vigorously:
Secure the lid tightly and shake the jar for 30 seconds or longer. Imagine shaking a cocktail shaker. It is important that you shake until there isn’t any material stuck to the sides or the bottom of the jar.
  3. Let Sit:
Allow the mixture to sit for 15 minutes. This is important because it helps the particles hydrate.
  4. Repeat Shaking:
Shake the jar again until the glaze is completely combined. This should take between 2-3 rounds depending on how vigorous you shake.
  5. Let Rest:
Leave the lid off the jar and allow the glaze to set for roughly 5 hours.  This time will depend on the climate you live in. Allow to rest until the glaze thickens to a pudding-like consistency.*
*Magic Puff is the only glaze that does not need to rest

Do I have to hydrate the jar all at once?

Yes! Mix material together all at once.

How much water should I add?

You should add approximately 1.5cups/350ml of water or fill the jar to the fill line. The fill line is located where the jar’s neck begins, right at the bottom of the lid screw lines.

Why do I need to shake the jar for 30 seconds?

Shaking for 30 seconds helps to mix the dry powder thoroughly, ensuring an even consistency.

Why should I let the glaze sit for 15 minutes after shaking?

Letting the glaze sit allows the water to fully absorb into the powder, making it easier to mix and preventing clumping.

What should I do if the glaze isn’t fully mixed after the first shake?

After the initial shake and 15-minute rest, shake the jar again until the glaze is fully combined. You may need to repeat this process a few times to achieve a smooth consistency. Glaze should take 2-3 roundsdepending on how vigorous you shake.

Can I add more water if the glaze is too thick?

Yes, if the glaze is too thick, you can add small amounts of water and shake until you reach the desired consistency.

Help! I added too much water and now my glaze is runny!

That is fine! Leave the lid off the jar for several hours or even overnight. This will let the glaze dehydrate to a thicker consistency.

What should I do if the glaze separates after sitting for a while?

If the glaze separates, simply shake the jar again to remix it. This is normal and won’t affect the quality of the glaze.

How long can I store hydrated glaze?

Hydrated glaze can be stored nearly indefinitely. Be sure to keep the lid tightly sealed to prevent drying out. If it does dry out, you can rehydrate it by adding water and shaking well. The only ingredient that can go bad/ineffective is CMC gum which is used to improve brush-ibility. You should not have a problem with glazes “going bad”.

Is there a specific type of water I should use?

Use cool, clean water.
Do not use hot water, it makes the mixing process more difficult.
Do not use dirty water.
