Tim Carr: Expressive Narratives

Tim Carr's art practice focuses on traditional hand-building techniques and articulating personal and historical narratives through decoration, including applying illustrations using underglaze, printing original decal drawings, and conducting independent glaze research. As a Swiss-Canadian living in Philadelphia, they strive to explore the intersections within their identity through an expressive, introspective approach to ceramics as an art form. They received a BFA with a concentration in ceramics from Tyler School of Art and Architecture in 2024 and are currently pursuing an MFA at the University of Delaware. Much of their work consists of utilitarian and functional tableware that expands upon and explores both personal and conceptual ideas. They use clay as a metaphor to express culture, folklore, storytelling, and narrative.
